Sterlco 30-125 PSI FT-96 FT-96HC Float and Thermostatic Steam Traps Brass and Stainless Steel Trim

The Sterlco 30-125 PSI FT-96 FT-96HC Float and Thermostatic Steam Traps with Brass and Stainless Steel Trim are applicable to all types of steam pressure heating systems. The Model FT-96 traps’ purpose is to move air and water while preventing steam from entering return piping. These traps are manufactured in seven models for handling capacities of 1,500 to 54,000 lbs. of condensate per hour and operate efficiently with pressures up to 60 lbs.

Model FT-96, FT-96-10-125HC also handles capacities of 20,000 to 150,000 lbs. of condensate per hour and operating pressures up to 125 lbs.

Sterlco 30-125 PSI FT-96 FT-96HC traps operate in response to rising and falling condensate levels. As well as rising and falling temperatures near the thermostatic vent, as follows:

  • Condensate initially fills the trap body to a predetermined level, which is sufficient to seal the valve seat opening.
  • As the condensate level continues to rise, the float will rise causing the valve to pull away from the seat.
  • Condensate will then be discharged into the return line through the trap outlet. The rise and fall of condensate level causes a continuous discharge which is typical of F&T traps.
  • Air entering the trap is discharged through the thermostatic vent. The opening and closing of the vent is dependent upon the temperature surrounding the thermostatic element.
  • As the element cools with more air accumulating, it opens to allow the air to vent to the atmosphere.
